Alice Bassi

Author

Alice Bassi (La Spezia, 1987) teaches creative writing and works as an editor. Her first novel was a finalist in the 2015 Neri Pozza Prize. She has published various short stories, both single and in anthologies (Moscabianca Edizioni, Delos Books, Watson Edizioni, Edizioni della Sera, Giulio Perrone Editore) and in literary magazines and blogs (Il Rifugio dell’Ircocervo, Split, Crack, Narrandom, Lost Tales Andromeda). In 2020, “Che Dio vi benedica” was one of the short stories recommended by the jury of the Robot Prize.

Sara Beltrame

Author

A graduate with honourable mention from the Holden School, she is a screenwriter, journalist and writer. She made her debut with the novel “Il Grande Omi”, published by Rizzoli at the age of 23. At 28 she founded and directed the Creative Writing Department at Fabrica, the Benetton Group’s research centre for creativity and communication. In 2004 he moved to Barcelona where he currently lives. Here he launched the “i Biscotti” project – ibiscotti.org – a free digital space for people aged between 4 and 18, dedicated to creativity, philosophical practices and the spread of reading. She collaborates as a journalist for several Spanish and Italian newspapers. As a screenwriter, she has worked for Rai, Mediaset and in the documentary field for MediaPro, Polar Star and Palomar, winning with one of her documentaries the 2018 FICTS award.

Tommaso Vidus Rosin

Tommaso came to the world of graphics and illustration as a self-taught artist, after a degree in philosophy, a master’s degree in communication analysis and management, a diploma from a conservatoire and a thousand jobs, but above all after a life spent drawing. In 2007 he began working as a graphic designer, combining his ability and passion for drawing with his knowledge of the main programmes and software. He works as creative director at Studio Quadrato in Udine. Among others, he has illustrated “È arrivato il futuro” (Electa Kids, 2018). (Electa Kids, 2018), “Mappe spaziali” (Nord-Sud Edizioni, 2019), “The Game” (Feltrinelli, 2020) and “Alla ricerca di Atlantide” (Feltrinelli, 2021).

Clarisse Lochmann

Author

Clarisse Lochmann’s illustrations play with transparency. Her lively figures are made up of brightly coloured ink overlays combined with the use of digital technology. She was born in Nantes in 1990. He has published two children’s books: “Dans la File” and “Le passoire”

Daniela Morelli

Born at the Scuola d’Arte Drammatica Piccolo Teatro in Milan (1972/74) Daniela Morelli is an actress, screenwriter and writer. His texts have been represented in Italy, London and New York. Radio dramas and TV series produced by RSI and Rai. Librettista di opera, won with director Santambrogio the third Dimitri Mitropolus award 2003 for Sogno di una notte di mid estate; with Il bambino di Itaca, based on the novel of the same name, the third Siae award 2018, with the same work is a finalist for the international Yamawards 2020 award.Journalist publicist for the women’s Mondadori, she arrived at children’s fiction in 2008. His historical novels are published in Junior Oscar, Vortici Piemme and Giunti. Castello Award 2010 for The Barricade Boys. Third Minerva Award 2012 for The Door of Freedom. Andersen Prize 2016 with Paolo d’Altan and Laura Rota for Salis, heroine of a dystopian world, best multimedia project.

Juliette Pierce

Author

Juliette Pierce was born in Ambilly in 1996.

She is a young student. She publishes her first Everlasting novel at Inceptio Éditions. Writing has always been his passion, more precisely in the field of science fiction. Curious about everything, she loves reading, traveling, music, movies and TV series that she devours.

“Everlasting” is her debut novel, was published in France in 2018.

Laura Scaramozzino

Author

(Turin, 1976), conducted for twelve years the cultural program “Dimensione Autore” at Radio Italia Uno.

She was teacher in different courses of creative writing.

For OAK Editions, she published the creative writing manual: “Percorso creativo. Un viaggio chiamato scrittura” and the novel based on a true story “L’uomo che salvava le anatre e inseguiva il Big Bang”, published by Sillabe di Sale Editore.

She wrote in the collection of female science fiction stories curated by Emanuela Valentini entitled “Dark matter”, Delosdigital Edizioni.

In 2019 one of her stories was selected for the collection of fantastic stories: “Strane creature” by Lorenzo Crescentini, edited by Watson. Also this year, the author was selected to be part of the anthology of the weird short story award: Esecranda.

In May 2019 she published her first dystopian novel with Watson editions entitled “Screaming Dora”. In June the collection of short stories “Il grande racconto di Klimt” was published by Edizioni della Sera in which her story “Cesare va lontano” appears. In November, “Materanera”, an anthology of yellow tales set in Matera, was published by Bertone.

One of his stories appears in “Piemontesi per semper” published by Edizioni della Sera.

Her stories appear on the webzine Cose di altri mondi, edited by Giovanni Mongini and in the online newspaper Il CorriereAl, in the AlLibri column, edited by Angelo Marenzana.

She collaborated with the Tom’s Hardware site.

Giorgia Simoncelli

Author

Giorgia Simoncelli was born in Rome. Graduated in history of contemporary art at La Sapienza University, she has been a publicist since 2012.

In 2016 he was a winners of the literary competition organized by Mauri Spagnol and she was finalist in the third edition of the Bukowski National Literary Prize.

In 2018 she was a finalist in the Odyssey competition with the fantasy work “Lea’s journey”.

As curator she has published with Gangemi Editore, “Skira”, “L’Erma di Bretschneider”, “Il Cigno Galileo Galilei”.

She has short stories published with Delos Digital, Edizioni della Sera, Watson and with the magazine Cose da Altre Mondi.

Kim Thùy

Author

Née à Saigon en 1968, Kim Thúy a quitté le Vietnam avec les boat people à l’âge de dix ans et s’est installée avec sa famille au Québec. Diplômée en traduction et en droit, l’auteure a travaillé comme couturière, interprète, avocate, propriétaire de restaurant et chroniqueuse culinaire pour la radio et la télévision. Elle vit à Montréal et se consacre à l’écriture.

Son premier livre, Ru, publié en 2009 chez Libre Expression, connaît un succès fulgurant dès sa sortie. Best-seller au Québec et en France et traduit dans plus de vingt-cinq langues, Ru a aussi remporté de nombreux prix littéraires, dont le prestigieux prix du Gouverneur général du Canada 2010, le grand prix RTL-Lire 2010 du Salon du livre de Paris, le prix italien Premio Mondello per la Multiculturalità 2011, le Prix du grand public du Salon du livre de Montréal en 2010 et le Grand Prix littéraire Archambault 2011. Ru a également été finaliste au Prix des cinq continents de la francophonie en 2010 et au prestigieux prix Giller 2012, qui récompense le meilleur livre canadien. L’édition anglaise a remporté le combat des livres organisé par Canada Reads et a été déclaré « le » livre à lire au Canada en 2015.

Le deuxième titre de l’auteure, coécrit avec Pascal Janovjak et intitulé À toi, est paru en septembre 2011. Née d’une complicité littéraire rare, cette méditation correspondance esquisse le parcours de deux enfants de l’exil et du nomadisme, à travers des souvenirs et des anecdotes. En 2013 paraît le troisième ouvrage de l’auteure, mãn. Finaliste au Prix des cinq continents de la francophonie en 2014 et traduit en neuf langues, l’ouvrage se retrouve, dans sa version de poche en anglais, sur la liste des
Discovery Pick de la chaîne Barnes & Noble aux États- Unis à l’automne 2015.

Paru en 2016, le dernier roman de Kim Thúy raconte l’histoire de Vi, la plus jeune soeur de trois grands frères, le « petit trésor » qui se retrouve malgré elle dans la grande Vie et ses tumultes. En quittant Saïgon pour Montréal, en visitant Suzhou et Boston, en grandissant aux côtés des héros ordinaires, elle est témoin de l’immensité de la mer, de la multiplicité des horizons, de l’unicité des tristesses, du luxe de la paix, de la complexité de l’amour, de l’infini des possibilités et de la violence de la beauté. Elle nous offre plus de 50 recettes provenant de son pays natal, souvent accompagnées par un court texte, un extrait de livre ou une anecdote, ouvrant ainsi au lecteur la porte de l’univers intime et singulier de l’auteure. Avec la collaboration de Michelle Bouffard, sommelière, l’auteure propose des accords mets vietnamiens et vins, de même qu’une présentation des ingrédients plus rares et de leurs substituts. Elle présente également différentes variétés de vermicelles et de nouilles, de fines herbes et de fruits, pour le plus grand plaisir des amoureux de la cuisine vietnamienne.

Rogé

Illustrator

Born in Quebec, Rogé studied graphic communication at Université Laval before working as an artistic director in renowned advertising agencies. He pauses in his career to try the adventure of international cooperation in the Dominican Republic. During his stay, he creates large murals in the village of Salcedo and returns marked by this experience. On his return, he decided to devote himself entirely to illustration. His images are shown in various advertising campaigns, magazines and several children’s books, including two that he wrote.Rogé illustrated, at Éditions de la Bagnole, the albums Haiti mon pays, Tyranono, Mingan mon village, Tyrano nez rouge and Tyrano de Bergerac.

Paolo d’Altan

Illustrator

Was born in Milan, where he still works and lives with his family (both human and feline). After classical studies and the Scuola d’Arte Applicata del Castello Sforzesco  (School of Applied Arts at the Sforza Castle in Milan), he started working as a freelancer for the major Italian advertising agencies, that later earned him two golds from the dall’Art Directors Club Italiano (Italian Art Directors Club). His passion for the image brought him closer to the world of publishing and children’s books where he quickly established himself as one of the greatest Italian illustrators. He expanded his portoflio by participating in several exhibitions, both national and international, during which he received numerous awards. Furthermore, his works had been selected for several years for Illustrators Italian-Annual, Communication Arts Illustration Annual and 3 × 3 Children Illustration Annual. In 2011 he was awarded with the Andersen award as the best Italian illustrator of the year; in 2012, with the White Ravens Award; in 2016 the special award Sergio Toppi and the Andersen award for the best digital creation as co-author of “ Salisedine e l’equilibrio dei regni” (‘Salisedine and the balance of kingdoms’), an experiment started three years earlier of  a self-produced cross-media series. He was president of the Illustrators Association.

Benedetta Frezzotti

Is a paper artist; professor of illustration for apps and mobile devices at the European Institute of Milan; illustrator and designer of app. As illustrator she has collaborated with ArtAttack magazine, Bulgarini, Giunti, Franco Cosimo Panini, Eli la spiga, Larus, 64_Pagé, Social Animation and many others. She developped four Apps: “Indovina cos’è?” (‘guess what it is?’) and “Da Bambino a bambino” (‘From child to child’) for Edizioni Piuma.

Enzo Venezia

Artist

Is an all-round artist. Born in Palermo in 1950, he graduated in Architecture. After that, he was mainly a graphic artist in the cultural heritage field. His illustrations had been used as posters, brochures and other graphic material related to several cultural events, including some editions of the festino of Palermo. For the Teatro Biondo Stabile in Palermo he created and edited numerous posters and illustrations. A personal exhibition at the European Parliament in 1995 was based upon his graphic work  In the following years, he was the editor  for  several exhibitions promoted by the Sicilian Region, by the Municipality of Palermo, and by Sicilian university institutes. His passion for theater led him to teach scenography from 1987 to 2000 in the theater school directed by Michele Perriera. As a set designer, he successfully collaborated with the Teatro Stabile di Palermo and with some city theatrical structures, for plays featuring Moni Ovadia, Roberto Herlitzka, Giorgio Albertazzi, Pamela Villoresi. The collaboration with the playwright Franco Scaldati and the director Umberto Cantone had a wide appeal. His commitment as an artmaker is constant and passionate: there have been numerous exhibitions over the years. One of the most interesting installations isthe one of “Luminaria” in which he combined illustration, painting, installations, performances and video projections, realized in June 2003 at the Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa di Palermo and included in the Electa catalogue by the critic Achille Bonito Oliva. Now his biggest adventure is to illustrate the world of children’s classics with the same inventiveness and fun.

Giovanni Coccia

Author

23 years old, from Milan. After awarding a bachelor degree in modern literature, he specialized in storytelling at the Holden school of Turin. He is a writer and illustrator of children’s books and provides nursery rhymes too. He draws chubby smiles holding pink balloons as well as big slobbering faces, as the case may be. What lays next to his armchair? Roal Dahl and Rodari. Arcobaligia is his first children’s book.

Marco Cerminara

Illustrator

Marco Cerminara is an illustrator born in Turin in 1996. He has just completed his studies at the International School of Comics. In addition to illustration, he is a graphic designer, especially for music records, cartoonist and streetartist. Arcobaligia is the first illustrated project for children.

Francesca Barbalace

Author

Has always loved books and stories. She has never stopped reading since she learned how to do it. She has never cared about the differences between paper books or eBooks, new books or second-hand books. The only thing she cares about is the quality of the text. She has a degree in Italian Literature and a master’s degree in Publishing. Today she works as editor, digital storyteller and social media manager. So she keeps living surrounded by books, at home, in her office, on the web.

Nicolò Dettore

Author

Was born in Rome on 12th September 1992. After a degree in the scientific high school in 2011, driven by the dream to become a travel agent, he enrolled in the Faculty of Tourism Economics (at La Sapienza, university in Rome). But life had other plans: he quit it a year later and started working as a freelance seller in the tourist agency “Paesi del mondo” in Ostia. At the very beginning of 2013, he started studying the writing of comic sketches, stimulated by the picturesque work environment and by a short course at the Accademia Nazionale del Comico di Roma (National Academy of Comedy in Rome). Imagining new worlds has since then fascinated him. He then delved into drama: initially as a self-taught person, he then decided to enroll at the Scuola Holden in Turin in 2016. After two years, he graduated collecting a great cultural background and experiences: in 2017 he founded the DIVANOS Film Cultural Association (of which he is currently the President); in the same year, he is the coauthor of the texts in a bookapp and author of the theatrical show “Un Concerto per Precious”. In 2018, he began a collaboration as a screenwriter with the Animoka Studios animation studio.

Federico Meccoli

He graduated from Piccolo teatro in Milan under the artistic supervision of Luca Ronconi, working in the following years as an actor and voice over. In 2014 he founded a theatre company and attended some dramaturgy workshops with Letizia Russo. After a period at R.A.D.A. in London on the analysis of dramaturgy in the works of Marlowe and Shakespeare and a seminar on the neutral mask at school Jacques Lecoq in Paris, he enrolled at Scuola Holden in Turin, graduating in 2018 as narrator and storyteller.

Carlo Munaretto

Was born in Bassano del Grappa in 1994. During the high school years, he had been charmed by the arts so he decided to study them thoroughly. He graduated in D.A.M.S. at the University of Bologna, and during his studies he understood that art was moving on a whole new ground: digital. He attended a Master in Digital Storytelling at the Scuola Holden in Turin to learn  how to adapt what he had learned during his university years to the new media.

Valentina Tosatti

Milan, born in 1992. She started to write poems since she was a child, taking part and winning some literary contests. As teenager, she quits writing and starts studying languages; she starts to describe herself as wandering. When she’s 18, she works as freelance journalist and she starts the university of foreign languages and cultural mediation. She dreams of a backpacker life and after six months in Australia, she graduates in 2015, but all the stories that she picked around ask to be told. She moves to Turin in 2016, she studies in Holden School, she works in a shop and she starts to call herself an artist. Currently she’s working as author and ghostwriter, and she’s working on a secret project. 

Marta Zanierato

Author

At the age of ten, she left the village where he grew up – Calvignasco (MI) – and moved to Novara, where she still lives. A few years later she became a commuter between this city and Turin so as to complete her studies in DAMS (Disciplines of Art, Music and Entertainment). After that, she enrolled in the Scuola Holden (Storytelling & Performing Arts in Turin). Her falling in love for the Piedmontese capital and her passion for writing do nothing but encourage her desire to move in this city. In the meantime, she lives in Novara and maintains collaborations with several editors and publishers so as to broaden her experience.

Morena Forza

Illustrator

Was born in Milan, the same city in which she works as a full-time freelance illustrator.  Her portfolio is represented by Illustopia and Advocate Art. She has worked in the publishing and advertising field for small and big companies around the world, focusing on narrative and scholastic illustration, greeting cards, animated game books and apps.  In 2010 she started RobaDaDisegnatori.com, a blog dedicated to drawing, creativity, art and illustrations.

Iris Bonetti

Author

After a degree in the artistic high school and after attending the European Institute of Design (IED), in 1991 she started her work experience as a fashion photographer and continued to attend courses in design and visual art. After five years in the fashion industry, she decided to work in the promotional and marketing fields. During these years, writing and travelling were never abandoned. That’s why, in 201, she cofounded a small publishing company specifically for children’s books, Edizioni Piuma, which allowed her to fulfill her writing desire for the little ones.
